JOYEUX MUSEUM: In 2018, the Bernard Chardon Museum obtains the Môm'Art label, a joyful museum for families. By signing the Môm'Art Charter recognized by the Ministry of Culture and Communication, the Bernard Chardon Museum joins the Louvre Lens, the FRAC Center-Val de Loire, the Museum of Nancy, the Museum in Herb, the Henri Matisse Museum , Artothèque de Caen, etc ... which make up part of the big family of happy museums! In 2019, the museum will be open from Saturday, June 1st to Sunday, September 30th on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from 14h to 18h. (On reservation for groups) The Artist: Bernard Chardon was born in Ferté Macé in the Orne in 1927. He began painting at the age of 16, and has never left his brushes since. Priest and teacher in northern Mayenne for many years, he remains, at age 88, a tireless researcher of the truth of things and beings. Always on the lookout for new ideas and inspiration, Bernard Chardon seems inexhaustible when it comes to creating and letting his art express itself! With an impressive number of nearly 5,000 canvases made throughout his life, he still finds today the vitality necessary to offer us new creations. In a very modern and graphic style, Bernard Chardon evokes various and varied subjects through canvases, but also with ceramics and stained glass. Having a real gift for the association of colors, the expression of feelings and the sense of caricature, Bernard Chardon makes us travel in a universe always moving, in beauty and in all freedom. The opening of a museum to his name in 2014 represents for him the accomplishment of all his work done for so many years, and finally allows him to share generously his art. The Bernard Chardon Museum The Notre-Dame chapel located in the EHPAD park in Lassay The Chateaux was to be demolished. The owners of the site offered Bernard Chardon and his association a perfect opportunity to combine two artistic causes: the renovation of a typical Mayenne chapel, and the public exhibition of the undisputed talent of Bernard Chardon. The generous idea created the enthusiasm immediately, and restoration work of the chapel began in March 2014. Abandoned for more than 30 years, the chapel came back to life and the simplicity of the place, wanted by the architect, seemed naturally wait for the arrival of the paintings of our artist to sing his colors and relive a new eternity. The alliance of French history and culture that emerge from the walls of the chapel, as well as the modernity of the paintings by the talented Bernard Chardon, give this place a special atmosphere.
