  • On the bank of the River Mayenne, on the site of an ancient Gaulish oppidum, the Port du Salut Abbey has been housing a cistercian-trappist community since its restoration in 1815.

    On the bank of the River Mayenne, on the site of an ancient Gaulish oppidum, the Port du Salut Abbey has been housing a cistercian-trappist community since its restoration in 1815.

    The priory founded by Thibault de Mathefelon in 1233 homed Canons Regular until their eviction in 1791 during the French Revolution.

    You can atend the Services in the 13 century-abbey church. In the entrance of the monastery, you will find a shop with typical products made by this community or other ones as well as religious books or items.

    Free visit everyday from 6.30 a.m. to 12.00 and from 2 p.m. to 8.30 p.m.
