  • On the bank of the River Mayenne, on the site of an ancient Gaulish oppidum, the Port du Salut Abbey has been housing a cistercian-trappist community since its restoration in 1815.

The Priory, founded by Thibault de Mathefelon in 1233, sheltered canons regular until their expulsion in 1791 during the French Revolution. You can participate in the monastic services in the abbey church of the 13th century. At the entrance of the monastery you will be able to buy products made in this monastery and in other communities, as well as religious books and objects. Opening hours: Free visit every day from 06:30 to 12:00 and from 14:00 to 20:30.
