Excursion around Château-Gontier

Programme for the day

10 a.m.: Ursulines Convent. Guided tour of the convent, an architectural gem in the town of Château-Gontier. You will learn about the life of the nuns and the pupils in their care. From cellar to cells, the Ursulines daily life is revealed against a backdrop of turbulent French history from the 17th to 20th century.
12.00 p.m.: Lunch in Château-Gontier. Anchored on the banks of the Mayenne, in a relaxing setting, the restaurant’s chef offers a delicious, refined, inventive and up-to-date cuisine. There is an exceptional panoramic view of the Mayenne and a summer terrace (contact us for menu).
2.45 p.m.: Réauté Chocolate factory in Château-Gontier. View of Roland Réauté chocolates and biscuits manufacturing with tasting.
4.30 p.m.: Tourist train (1 hr). Guided tour of Château-Gontier with a stop in the Bout du Monde garden on the tourist train.

Worth noting: a tourist cruise going through a lock (lasting 1½ hours) is possible in Château-Gontier (contact us).

Excursion around Craon

10.00 a.m.: Robert Tatin Museum in Crossé le Vivien. Guided tour of the Robert Tatin house and museum. The Mayenne artist has left 21 years’ worth of sculptural, architectural and pictorial creation behind him: an exceptional site.
12.30 p.m.: Lunch in a local establishment (contact us for menu).
2.30 p.m.: Château de Craon. This castle, along with its 40-hectare grounds, provides the visitor with a classified 18th century ensemble that is still intact. It is easy to imagine the ostentatious “castle life” of bygone years! The owners themselves will guide you during the visit.
4.30 p.m.: Ferme du Pressoir in Craon. Guided tour of the Ferme du Pressoir where Sonia and Rémy will invite you to taste a selection of their produce at the end of the visit.
