Excursion around Sainte-Suzanne
Programme for the day
- 10 a.m.: Jublains Museum and Archaeological Site. Guided and commented tour of Jublains. It is the most complete example of a Gallo-Roman town in the west with its temple, baths, theatre, fortress and museum.
- 12.30 p.m.: Lunch in Sainte-Suzanne (contact us for menu).
- 2.30 p.m.: Medieval town of Sainte-Suzanne. Guided and commented tour of the town. For ten centuries, Sainte-Suzanne has been overlooking the Erve Valley. The 14th and 15th century ramparts, which are intact, provide impressive panoramas of the Coëvrons and the Charnie forest.
- 4.00 p.m.: Centre d’Interprétation de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine (CIAP - Architecture and Heritage Interpretation Centre). Discover all the testimonies of the most remarkable local and department heritage.
- 5.30 p.m.: Brasserie La Suzannaise in Sainte-Suzanne. Tour of the brewery explaining how beer is made followed by a tasting.
- 6.30 p.m.: End of the excursion.

Excursion around Saulges
- 9.30 a.m.: Evron Basilica. Guided tour of the Basilica. The origin of the construction of the Basilica is based on a legend that says a pilgrim who had returned from Jerusalem in the 7th century had witnessed a miracle. The miracle was what led to the creation of a Benedictine monastery. It was in the 10th century that the monks of Evron decided to build a Romanesque church.
- 11.00 a.m.: Moulin de Thévalles. Guided tour of the mill. Don’t miss a trip to the Moulin de Thévalles linking history, heritage and mechanics. The watermill has an exceptional 4-level mechanism that is unique in the west of France.
- 12.30 p.m.: Lunch (contact us for menu).
- 2.45 p.m.: Grottes de Saulges (Saulges caves). In the heart of the Erve Valley, which is classified as a Natura 2000 site, the caves are home to animal and plant species that are protected because they are either rare or fragile. (Guided and commented tour of a cave.)
- 4.45 p.m.: The Bailleul boar. Guided and commented tour of the farm and the sounder of boar.
- 6.30 p.m.: end of the excursion.
