The old castle and/or the Musée d’Art Naïf (Museum of Naïve Art)

The castle was founded in the 11th century and was home to the Counts of Laval until 1794. The 34-metre-high keep shows the evolution of military architecture.
At the beginning of the 16th century, Renaissance left its mark on the castle: the facades over the courtyard were decorated with carved stones. The Château Neuf gallery was built in the middle of the 16th century.
Today the castle houses an interesting collection of naive paintings

Musée de la Chouannerie (Chouannerie Museum) in Saint-Ouen-des-Toits

Led by Jean Cottereau, known as Jean Chouan, farmers who were disappointed and appalled by the excesses of the revolutionaries, waged a ruthless civil war against the sans culottes between 1792 and 1800. Beyond the battle, this museum recounts the difficult life of the farmers who were confronted with a policy that they did not understand.
