  • The original fortress of Guy de Laval has passed through the centuries, so take the time to come and discover its history.

Built from the 11th century on a rocky outcrop overlooking the river Mayenne, the medieval fortress of Laval has preserved from this time a chapel with Roman arches vaults and capitals. The main tower, erected at the beginning of the 13th century, dominates more than 34 meters the Mayenne and the Old Bridge which spans it. A remarkable frame forming the hourds the crown. The lower chapel and the main tower are only accessible on a guided tour. The castle courtyard is freely accessible. It offers a remarkable view of the main building, whose tufa windows are decorated with Renaissance decor.
