SACD Prize - Critics' Week, Cannes Festival 2025
Toni, a 15-year-old Roma boy, lives in a shanty town on the outskirts of Madrid. Proud to belong to his community, he is very close to his grandfather. Driven by developers, some of them choose to move to the city, but Toni's grandfather refuses to leave their land. As the nights go by, Toni has to make a choice: head for an uncertain future or cling to the world of his childhood.
This is an endearing, deeply moving and very human film that invites us to reflect on our society today. Intense in both form and content. The subjects it tackles are both topical and timeless, through the deep-rooted relationships between the characters.
