In the late 90s, Nevenka Fernández, aged 25, was elected councillor to the charismatic and popular mayor of Ponferrada, Ismael Alvarez. This marked the beginning of a descent into hell for Nevenka, who was manipulated and harassed for months by the mayor. To get out of the situation, she decides to denounce his actions and takes him to court.
The Nevenka Affair is a chilling film about the process of sexual harassment. The sober but frontal direction follows with great empathy the long and very (too) difficult road travelled by its heroine. A must-see. - Atmosphères 53.
