Benjamin Tholozan tells the story of the gradual abandonment of regional languages and accents, and the intimate and political implications of this loss. A gallery of picturesque portraits for an enlightening and delightful show.
Benjamin Tholozan, now living in Paris, grew up in a village in the south of France, the birthplace of Alphonse Daudet. All his family still live there, and they all speak "avé l'accent". Except for him. He's changed his accent. He speaks 'pointu', in other words, with the accent of power...
In this historical and family epic, the fabulous actor portrays the colourful figures in his family with gusto, joy and precision, as well as the characters who have made the Touraine "beau-parler" the French language of reference even today. A show whose comic flavour equals its intelligence.
