Laval in the colours of the Tour: experience an exceptional day on 12 July!

The Tour de France is making its big return to Laval! Four years after a 100% Mayenne stage, the champions of the peloton will set off from Saint-Méen-le-Grand for a 174km stage, with a spectacular finale at the gates of Espace Mayenne. With thrilling sporting events, entertainment in town, a popular dance and fireworks, the Fête nationale gets off to an early start… and in style!

On 12 July, Laval will be living to the rhythm of the Tour de France, with an electric atmosphere throughout the day.
At 3pm, the famous publicity caravan will bring the streets to life before the long-awaited arrival of the riders at around 4.50pm. To make sure you don’t miss any of the action as the peloton passes by, head to Place du 11-Novembre, which will be completely transformed for the occasion: giant screen, entertainment, music… everything you need to experience the event in style!

The finish will take place in a festive atmosphere at Espace Mayenne, with the partners’ village and official Tour entertainment. In Changé, Laval Cyclisme 53 will also be offering entertainment near the D900 roundabout and rue Frédéric-Buisson.

And to extend the festivities, the town is celebrating the Fête nationale two days early: a popular ball and fireworks will light up the evening on Saturday. It’s sure to be an unforgettable day!

  • Traffic and parking: what do you need to know?

    Anticipate your travel

    Hosting the Tour de France will result in major restrictions from Friday 11 July. Traffic and parking will be severely disrupted along the entire route and its immediate surroundings. Traffic will be gradually reopened on Saturday evening, after the finish of the stage. Some areas, such as the fireworks area, will remain closed until midnight.

    👉 To avoid inconvenience:

    • Park outside the affected area
    • Use the park-and-ride facilities
    • Prefer walking, cycling or public transport

    A free shuttle bus will link the Beausoleil karting car park (route d’Angers) to the town centre.

  • Are there any motorhome parks close to the course in Laval?

    Camping-carists, here’s where to set down near Laval!

    For a comfortable stay, several parking areas welcome you:

    • Saint-Jean-sur-Mayenne – Marchanderies: 44 spaces (paid parking)
    • Changé – Aire de la Brique: 25 spaces (paid parking)
    • Laval – Parking Jean-Macé: around 120 spaces (free)
  • Is there easy access to the station on that day?

    Easy access to the SNCF station: plan your journey!

    For smooth access to the station, remember to plan your route carefully:

    • From the west of Laval, give preference to the A81 (Laval-Ouest tollbooth, exit no. 3 Laval-Est).
    • From the east, take the avenues de Mayenne, Chanzy or Tours.
  • Are there crossing points for pedestrians and cyclists?

    On foot or by bike: think about your routes through the zone!

    Some crossings will be temporarily closed to pedestrians, including rue de la Paix (except via rue Ambroise-Paré) and quai Béatrix-de-Gâvre.

    A secure bike park is waiting for you near the finish area, set up by the Conseil Départemental, so you can park your two-wheeler in complete peace of mind!

  • What are your tips for getting to the finish and the town centre on the day of the Tour?

    Important for your arrival and departure on D-day:

    • Don’t try to cross the course by car, it’s impossible!
    • Avoid looking for a parking space too close to the finish site and the town centre. Instead, walk, cycle or use public transport via the park-and-ride facilities.
    • At the end of the day, take the time to enjoy yourself and wait a little before setting off again, for a smoother and more serene departure.
  • Will shops, markets and services be open in Laval during the Tour de France?

    Shops, markets and services stay open during the Tour!

    Laval is coming alive with the Tour de France, while keeping its essential services wide open:

    • Shops will remain at your service all day.
    • The Municipal Administrative Centre will welcome you as normal.
    • The markets at the station and in the town centre will be there, even if some traders will be a little less numerous.
    • The town buses will continue to run all day on 12 July, but
      their routes will be reshuffled (more info on tul-laval.com).
