Au rythme des parloirs takes us to the Maison d'Accueil des Familles et des Enfants de Détenus (MAFED) in Laval. In this discreet place, volunteers open the door to those who have come to visit a loved one in prison. Between waiting, absence and reunion, the film observes the everyday gestures, the words exchanged and the silences shared. Two struggles intersect here: that of the families, faced with the ordeal of prison and administrative constraints, and that of the volunteers, who keep this place of solidarity alive. More than just a place of passage, MAFED appears to be a fragile refuge, where forms of resistance to isolation and confinement are invented.
