We Connect the World - Sharing humour and street energy
The J2K Festival returns to the Théâtre de Laval with an evening of energy and commitment.
On Saturday 18 October, Karactère Hip Hop Acte 2 brings together two powerful performances: the interactive, high-energy show We Connect the World by the Surprise Effect collective, and the engaging choreographic piece Embrace the Base by the Collectif Minuit 12.
Forget the fourth wall: here, the audience is an actor as well as a spectator.
With We Connect the World, the Surprise Effect collective unfurls its world of humour, acrobatics and breakdance, without ever losing its direct link with the audience. Each performance becomes a unique experience, a moment of communion where conviviality reigns supreme.
Transposed from the asphalt to the stage of the Théâtre de Laval, the show retains all the power of the street show, with its vitality, authenticity and proximity. Spectacular and moving, it promises to transform a simple evening into a shared memory, where dance becomes a universal language.
In the first half, the Collectif Minuit 12 plunges into history to reinvent it on stage.
Inspired by the mobilisation of the 30,000 women of Greenham Common in 1981, who surrounded a nuclear base in a gesture of civil disobedience, Embrace the Base brings the past and present into dialogue through the body.
Five dancers from a wide range of backgrounds - hip hop, electro, classical, waacking, contemporary and locking - create a lively fresco in which every movement is a demand. Between aesthetics and power, the show questions the role of choreographic art in social, ecological and feminist struggles.
A necessary work, both sensitive and militant, it resonates with the philosophy of the J2K Festival: to make culture a vehicle for commitment and cohesion.
