This conference reports on the results of a survey carried out during the flooding of the Mayenne in autumn 2024. The aim of the survey was to identify river archaeological sites that are usually immersed in the riverbed, such as mills and their causeways, fordable shoals, bridges, marinière gates, locks and so on. There are many such sites, providing information on how this sub-tributary of the Loire has been used over time, from a strategic point of view as well as for resource production and navigation. The archaeological data collected complements the work of historians and archivists on the Mayenne river, which is now being revealed in a whole new light.
