Set off on a cycling adventure to discover the Mayenne with a choice of three itineraries lasting from 3 to 7 days, taking in the river, towpaths and exceptional heritage sites. From Laval to Angers, on to Saumur or on a loop through the heart of the Mayenne, each route invites you to slow down and enjoy unspoilt landscapes, charming villages, cultural visits and encounters with passionate craftspeople.

Whether with family, friends or as a couple, enjoy a getaway where nature, history and local cuisine blend with the peaceful rhythm of the river. A rejuvenating experience, just 1 hour 10 minutes from Paris.

From Laval to Angers

A break to enjoy nature and culture together

From Laval to Angers, this trip offers the perfect opportunity for families to immerse themselves in the heart of the Mayenne, taking in its mills, locks, hidden castles and towpath cottages.

5 days / 4 nights / 3 days’ cycling / 93 km

Day 1

Once you’ve set off on your bike, cycle along the River Mayenne towards Château-Gontier. Discover the exceptional collections of ancient sculptures and ceramics at the Ursuline Convent.

Take a stroll through the heart of the historic town and wander through its medieval streets and half-timbered houses.

Day 2

On the second day, take a virtual tour of the Isle Briand Departmental Park, its stables, stud farm and magnificent oak trees. Then meet a foundry craftsman and, during a guided tour, share in his passion as he demonstrates traditional sand casting and bronze casting.

Day 3

On the third day, round off your trip at Angers Castle and explore this impregnable fortress and its Apocalypse Tapestry – a magnificent 100-metre-long mural depicting scenes from the last book of the Bible and the Hundred Years’ War…

The Laval–Mayenne loop
