Le 53 - Trail

Departing from Saint Jean Sur Mayenne, a small village built on a rocky spur, you will discover the valleys of the Mayenne and Ernée rivers. This long route mainly requires stamina, but there are no highly technical sections. It can be done in a few hours, a day or even over 2 days, and takes you through varied landscapes of hedged farmland and undergrowth, along sunken lanes, rivers, farm tracks and sometimes small roads.

You'll enjoy stunning panoramas, the tranquillity of the Mayenne, numerous hill climbs, a few castles and a well-hidden natural nugget that can only be discovered on foot: the Morinière valley!

Come to St jean sur Mayenne in a motorhome or spend the night in an old lock (Les refuges du halage) to make the most of the route; a small campsite dedicated to motorhomes is available for holidaymakers with a view over the Mayenne.

And if you fancy a spot of pedalling, paddling and refreshment, head for Les Petits Guidons on the towpath, where you'll find everything you need to round off your day or extend your local adventure!
