For 30 years, the Christmas celebrations in Laval have been brought to life by the “Lumières de Laval”, an unmissable event that delights young and old alike.

For this anniversary edition, we’ve chosen to return to the very essence of Christmas, rekindling the magic and wonder of tradition.

The 2023 edition of Laval Lights dazzled young and old alike!

The theme of love cast a spell over the city, with installations that set visitors’ hearts racing: the market of lights, the Christmas market, the Ferris wheel and the projection onto the Château-Neuf lit up Laval in the colours of passion, creating a magical atmosphere.

A highlight and surprise of this year’s event was a breathtaking drone ballet that lit up the sky over Les Pommeraies, above the former racecourse, leaving thousands of spectators in awe.

Following on from Hilard last year, it was the Fourches district that shone brightly this year, thanks to its brand-new illuminations.

A journey along the water

A must-see during the festive season, the Laval Lights have once again transformed the town into a veritable showcase of colour and magic.

The 2022 edition, scaled back slightly due to energy constraints, still managed to enchant people of all ages.
With a theme centred on water and the river, the illuminations made the town centre sparkle with elegance.

And this year, following on from Le Pavement last year, it was the Hilard neighbourhood’s turn to be beautifully illuminated, further highlighting the diversity of Laval’s neighbourhoods.

Naïve art

Laval’s ‘Lumières’ once again provided a highlight of the festive season, and the 2021 edition shone with a special brilliance! With a host of new features, the town was transformed: a majestic Ferris wheel in Boston Square, magical projections on the façade of the Château-Neuf, and the illuminations in Old Laval enchanted visitors.

Le Pavement was also put in the spotlight with giant flowers adorned with mirror balls, illuminating the façades of buildings in spectacular fashion. A first for the city that promises to be repeated in other neighbourhoods as early as next year.

The Peacock’s Pen

Despite the unusual circumstances, the magic of Laval Lights 2020 really worked its charm!

Under the enchanting theme of the peacock’s feather, the city was decked out in blue, gold and silver.

To avoid crowds, there was no official opening ceremony or fireworks display, but the illuminations were unveiled as a surprise on 2 December, adding a touch of mystery.

The Christmas market, redesigned for the occasion, took place across two venues with stalls brimming with handcrafted treasures. As for the Lumières market, it showcased local talent in a warm and festive atmosphere.
