- HISTORY -
The old chaussée de Bonne was the site of a flour mill on the right bank, documented in 1536. After 1537, it was fitted with a sailor's gate. Work to improve navigation on the Mayenne in the 19th century led to its demolition. It was replaced by a lock dam, built a few metres downstream to the plans of the Ponts et Chaussées engineer Du Jardin. The work, supervised by another ordinary engineer, Lahougue, was carried out by Joinville-le-Pont contractors Gabriel Robineau and Edme Léger, who were chosen in the tender held on 21 December 1867. Final acceptance took place on 31 March 1872. The mill, also destroyed, was rebuilt on the left bank. The lock-keeper's house was extended at the end of the 20th century.
