A walk along the moat on the southern rampart of Laval's old fortifications.
At the beginning of the 13th century, the development of the town prompted it to build its own fortification system.
Over 1,100 metres long, this wall was flanked by 27 towers and pierced by 3 carriage gates (including the Porte Beucheresse) and 2 postern gates.

In the 15th century, the town walls were rebuilt following the passage of the English, and a sentry walk on machicolations crowned the curtain walls.

The fortifications were significantly destroyed during the major urban development works of the 19th century.
The Anne d'Allègre promenade was laid out in the moat of the southern rampart.
