Festival du Film Judiciaire de Laval

Once again this year, our programming committee has worked hard to bring you a varied selection of films and invite you to the cinemas to discuss issues of justice. Together, we will (re)discover some of the most influential figures in our history: on the one hand, Gisèle Halimi’s struggle in *L’affaire Marie-Claire*; on the other, *Badinter*, a biopic dedicated to the politician and his fight against the death penalty. The director of the latter film will be in attendance for the festival’s opening! We shall also have the privilege of welcoming the directors of two documentaries, to discuss contemporary issues facing our society: *La détention*, which follows trainee prison officers during their training, and *Stups*, which films the court hearings of young defendants at the Marseille court. Finally, film experts from the Loire region will shed light on the direction of two chilling dramas: *On vous croit*, about child protection, and *L’affaire Zanetti*, in which a criminologist revisits a forgotten story set in northern Italy… Dark cinemas, enclosed spaces: all places to spark debate!
