"Pas si Fou, Pas si Sage : Nasreddine Hodja!"

This show, suitable for all ages, *‘Not So Mad, Not So Wise: Nasreddine Hodja’*, is being staged by the Théâtre du Tiroir Jean Macé/Hind Rajab (8 rue Jean Macé, Laval) for three performances. Synopsis: Nasreddine Hodja sleeps in his garden, surrounded by roses, music and the sounds of the street. Follow him in his gentle reverie, and you’ll recognise a touch of wisdom in him! You’ll appreciate the wit he uses to dismantle the logic of selfishness and intolerance. You’ll forgive him for the pranks he plays on you. You’ll share his love of life, which he offers you through poems, music and dates from Shiraz… For those unfamiliar with Nasreddin Hodja, he is a figure from popular folklore who embodies the art of living from the Maghreb to Uzbekistan, via Turkey and Iran. His stories recount the ingenuity of ordinary people’s daily lives, their departure from binary logic in the face of the world’s complexity: power, war, love… and sharing! Daphnélia, using puppets and with the musical accompaniment of Fardin Mortazavi, brings these figures from the popular imagination vividly to life. Before long, the audience is drawn in… This family-friendly show invites you to discover Persian culture through folk tales, poetry, the humour of the situations, and the musicality of gestures and words: it will delight young and old alike!
